Over 100 Militants Invade Akwa Ibom Government House, See Exclusive Photos Of The Attack

What started as a normal protest over entitlements by ex-militants went out of hand as the militants attempted to take over the Akwa Ibom State government house.

Information just coming in has it that no fewer than 100 militants invaded the Akwa Ibom State Government House in a violent protest, leading to break down of law and order in and around the Government House and Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital in general.

The gunmen requested that their names must be added to those in the amnesty program and that they must see the Akwa Ibom State governor Udom Emmanuel by all means. Afterwards, policemen tried in all their efforts to disperse them with tear gas and firearms.

As at the time of the report, police have succeeded to pull back the first wave of Strikes by the militants. It is unclear whether the militants would regroup and strike again or it is over. Right now police have taken over the streets adjoining and advised people to stay clear.4114960_1405418610406800859819618134843340914181300n_jpeg16e83f4f7ef6cffd69ccd2fb014967f74114959_1393481510406800693152961519124644822963336n_jpeg5bd12ee5670625b20c57adf3bd13c3d8
